From Bankok to Chang Mai the city of elephants

Did you know that Chang means Elephant in Thai? so now you know ;)

After 3 very cultural days in Bankok, we hit the road again by train (tris time the 3rd class) to Ayuthaya.
Après 3 jours très culturels à Bankok, nous avons repris la route vers Ayuthaya en train, 3eme class cette fois
- Ayuthaya is a small city surrounded bu water, ancient capital of Siam (Thailand) after Sukhothai (1350), it was destroyed during wars (1767) but still some ruins remainns... so we took a walk in this ruins (Historical Parc) imagining the old time
One of the very famous Buddhah is there, most precisly the head of buddha inbetween tree roots, for me very impressive
We learned a little bit more of history and the culture of Auythaya in Auythaya study center. A small kind of museum, not free, but where you can imagin what happened here.

Sukhothai

- Ayuthaya est une petite ville entourée d'eau, ancienne capital de Siam (Thailande) après Sukhothai (1350), c'était détruit durants différentes guerres (1767), néamoins les ruines sont toujours là... Nous avons donc fait une ballade au travers ces ruines (Parc Historique) imaginant les vieux temps.
Un des bouddha très connu se trouve ici, plus précisément sa tête dans les racines d'arbre. Très impressionnant!
Nous avons appris un peu plus sur l'histoire et la culture d'Ayuthaya dans le centre d'étude 'Ayuthaya. Une sorte de petit musée, pas gratuit, mais grâce auquel on peut s'imaginer le passé.

As usuall we arrive without booking but thanks to a nice lady from Ile de la Reunion took us to her guesthouse very cheep and just beautiful. The owner is french so Julian was very happy to have some cheep and nice PASTIS the original.
So we stayed in the new city and the historical parc was in the old city, which we reached by "bus".
The old city can be visited by bike we found it great and peaceful this way.
The city looks like Ayuthaya but in better shape and the park is well organized.
Temples are beautiful and there are lots of Buddhas still preserved from destruction of the time. After the first site we pedaled to the others...where we saw the most popular Buddhas statue with a gold hand, it huge and impressive (Wat Si Chum)

- En route pour un autre site Historique, cette fois inscrit dans l'Héritage Mondial de L'UNESCO, la cité de Sukhothai! 1ere capitale de Siam
Comme d'hab on arrive sans réserver cependant une gentille dame de la Réunion nous a pris dans sa guesthouse qui était vraiment pas chère et magnifique. Le patron étant français, Julian était très content de retrouver son Pastis préféré en plus vraiment pas cher.

Sukhothai

Nous logions donc dans la nouvelle ville tandisque le parc historique se trouve dans l'ancienne, où nous allions en "bus".
La vieille cité peut être visité en vélo, c'est ce qu'on a fait et nous avons trouvé cela génial et paisible.
Cette cité ressemble beaucoup à Ayuthaya mais mieux conservé et le parc bien organisé. Les temples sont magnifiques et beaucoup de Buddha ont était préservé de la destruction du temps. Après le 1er site nous avons pdalé jusqu'aux autres sites... où l'on a vu un des Buddha les plus célébre, hyper grande statue à la main dorée, très impressionnant (Wt si Chum)


-The next day we took the bus to Chang Mai, the nothern city in a middle of mountains.

- Jour suivant, nous avons pris le bus pour Chang Mai, la ville du nord, ua milieu des montagnes.

- How is food in Thailand : well not to bad... we descovered Thai soup fondue we love it. You cook your own soup.
Most of the Thai people eat of the streets, we did as well and had a lots of troubles with our intestins. You have to considers the hygienical stuff here on the street, there is NONE and now one washes their hands eather so yuuuuk. But this is the part of the exeprience :)

In the South we just loved the sea food that was awsome tasty and fresh! We also LOVE PAD THAI, TOM KA KAI etc and SUKIYAKI mmmiam
- Comment est la nourriture Thai? : pas trop mal... on a découvert la soupe fondue Thai et on adore ca. Tu cuisine ta petite soup à toi! 
La plupart des Thai mangent dans la rue et nous l'avons fait aussi après quoi nous avons eu bcp de problèmes intestinaux. Il faut prendre en compte le niveau d'hygiène dans les rue, il y en a pas et personne ne se lave les mains beurk Mais ça fait partie de l'experience :)



-How is transportation in Thailand ? : lets say cahotic and dangerous but fun. People don't fight like in EU. but it is a total anarchy on the road.

ex: Tuk Tuk totally crazy people driving it and customers have no protection; on our way to Chang Mai with this big bus...overloaded, we killed a dog and no one had noticed or pay attention, then we nearly had two big accidents and no one cared, the driver just keep talking on the phone that's it.
Yeah travel in Thailand it is such an adventure!

-Comment est le transport en Thailande? : disons chaotique et dangereux mais marrant. Les gens s'énervent pas au volant comment les européens.
ex: Tuk Tuk totallement déganté et les clients n'ont aucune protection; sur notre chemin à Chang Mai dans le gros bus (car)... surchargé, nous avons percuté un chien ce que personne n'a remarqué et on a prèsque eu deux accident et personne ne s'en soucié, le chauffeur à continué à parlé au téléphone
Hé oui voyager en Thailande est une grande aventure !

-How are people in Thailand? : as we are "white tourists" most of the people treat us like that !Which is not good at all, we are constatly harrasted by people willing only thing MONEY MONEY but we don't have it so they don't like us bouuuh not friendly! The others just looking at us suspiciously and as we don't speak thai and no one speaks english it is hard to communicate! Some times we meet nice people and it is so good time to time

Poverty

I though I will met simple people, without money on their mind, spiritual people but no I think it is like everywhere peoples only God is MONEY!Very sad to observe that but as I always say it s a part of travel

-Comment sont es gens en Thailande? : en tant que "touristes blancs" nous sommes traités en tant que tel par la plupart des gens!Ce qui n'est pas bien du tout, nous sommes constamment assaillis pas les gens ne voulant qu'un chose, L'ARGENT, mais nous ne l'avons pas, du coup il nous aime pas, pas gentil! D'autres gens nous regardent bizzarement et comme nous ne parlons pas le thaï et qu'eux ne parlent pas l'anglais la communication est difficile! Parfois nous rencontrons des gens très bien ça fait du bien de temps en temps!
Je pensais rencontrer des gens simples et spirituels ici mais c'est comme partout, le seul dieu des gens c'est ARGENT! Assez triste de voir cela mais cela fait partie du voyage.


Elephants, we were thinking and thinking what is the best thing to do!Ride or not and so many companies...In the end we decided to book with Yogi Mahout a school where elephant riders (mahout) are using the Youga method to ride, communicate and take care of the elephant. We are going to spend a day with this guys and their elephant. I hope it willbe good otherwise I will fill guilty all my life !
Les Elephants, nous avons pensé et repenséà ce qui était le mieux à faire! Monter ou pas Monter et il y a tellement de compagnies qui proposent de monter les éléphants...Finallement on a décider d'aller avec les Yougi Mahout, une écoule où les monteur d'éléphants (mahout) utilisent la méthode Youga pour les monter, comuniquer avec eux et en prendre soin. Nous llong passerune journée avec eux et leurs éléphants. J'éspère que ça va être bien sinon je vais culpabiliser tout ma vie

Tiger temple, same, we are boycotting them but not visiting it. It is also an ultra tourist place where animals are drugged and abused but also sold... if you ever go to Thailand don't be tempted to that horrible thing!

Temples des tigres, nous les boycottons en n'allons pas leur rendre visite. C'est aussi un endroit ultra touristique, rien de spirituel, les animaux sont drogué et mal traité mais aussi vendu... si jamais vous aller en Thailnade, svp ne soyez pas tenté par cette horrible chose !!!!

De Trang a Bangkok

1) => Trang - Koh Tao

Comme annoncé lors de notre dernier message, nous attendions le train à Trang pour nous rendre sur l'ile de Koh Tao (traduire l'ile de la tortue). Après 6h a une moyenne de 50-70km/h et une quantité d'arrêt permantant aux marchands ambulants d'envahir le train,  nous avons fait escale a Chumpon, ville cotiere et pris un catamaran pour 2h de torture en mer (on n'a rarement vu autant de personnes malades...).

As announced in our last post, we were waiting for the Train in Trang to go to Koh Tao Island (turtle island). After 6h under 50-70km/h and a huge number of stop allowing the ambulant sellers to overrun into the train, we short-stoped in Chumpon, costal town and took a catamaran boat for 2h of sea-torture (we've never seen so many sick people...)

2)=>Koh Tao

A Koh Tao, le calme est de rigueur et nous nous trouvons quasiment coupés du monde dans des criques "paradisiaques" (une fois qu'on oublie tous les sacs plastiques qui nous entourent). Le temps n'est malheureusement pas au beau fixe, et la fin de la mousson nous empechera de plonger sur cette ile réputée pour cette activité.

In Koh Tao, we are almost separated from the other part of the world in theses "heavenly" and calm coves. (once you forget all the rubbish plastic bags all around you). The weather was not very good because of the end of the monsoon, so that we were not able to dive though diving is one of the main activity on this island.

3)=> Bangkok

  On reprend le chemin en train de nuit jusque Bangkok. Ici, la vie est bien active et fourmille a tout va. On reste 3 jours pour visiter les differents temples (avec le buddha le plus long, emerald buddha etc..) et palais.On assistera a une spectacle de danse Thai traditionnel par hasard. Au final Bangkok c'est moins pire que ce a quoi on s'attendait !

We headed to Bangkok by night train. There is like a anthill with all the life and people. We stayed there for 3 days visiting the different temples (longest buddha, emerald buddha etc..) and palace. We also were lucky to attend to a traditional Thai dance. Finally Bangkok  was less worst that what we were prepared to confront !

°Already two weeks in Asia...Now we are travelling from south Thailand up to the North.

"Taxi to Krabi to Ao Nang"

Nous voila deja deux semaines en Asie...Maintenant nous voyagons du Sud de Thailand au Nord

°Our first Stop was Phuket, very dirty big town we didn't like it so hit the road to Krabi, hoping to find something beautiful and peacefull.

Notre premier arrêt était Phuket, très sal et grand, nous n'avaons pas aimé et donc on est partis pour Krabi, espérant trouver quelque chose de joli et paisible.

Ao Nang Beach

°Two night in Côte d'Azur, yes this is what is Krabi Ao Nang, ha ha lots lots lots of Russians and Sweedish people, very expensive and ultra touristic. Meanwhile we did a nice boat trip to  Koh Phi Phi the Famous Leonardo Dicaprio Island of course it is beautifull but so MANYYYYYYY tourists it is just horrible you can not see THE BEACH you see the HATS hahahaha
One thing shoked me, they use Gibon monkey to take polaroid picture  with you so sad poor monkey.

Juliano Di Caprio

Deux jours à la côte d'Azur, et oui c'est ce qui est Krabi Ao Nang, haha beaucoup de touristes Russes et Suedois, très cher et ultra touristique. Néanmois on a fait un voyage en bateau plutôt sympa dans les îles Koh Phi Phi (Koh=Iles, se dit PIPI), la fameuse île de Leonardo Di Caprio. Bien sûr c'est superbe mais  tellement de touristes c'est horrible, on ne voit pas la plage on voit les chapeaux ha ha
Une chose qui m'a choquée c'est les gens qui te pendent un Gibon sur le coup et te prennent en photo Polaroide avec... Pauvre singe.

°We followed our trip till Koh Lanta and joined the Palm Beach Diver Center wich had been recommended by a friend. There we spent 6 days which 4 for doing our diving training. We are now certified Open Water Diver and dived til 30m deep in one of the top 10 spot in the world !!! Awesome. Unfortunately we didn't see any whaleshark or manta ray. Next time maybe. We also explored by scooter a bit the island and went to mangrove part which shelters flashy colourful crabs and weird fishes.
Presently we are waiting our train to go a bit more in north and join the island Ko Tao before going to Bangkok.

On a poursuivi notre voyage vers Koh Lanta, plus précisement le centre de plongée Palm Beach qu'une amie nous avait recommandé. On y est resté 6 jours dont 4 pour notre formation en plongée. Nous voici a présent diplomé Open Water Diver et nous avons eu l'opportunité de plonger jusque 30m de profondeur sur l'un des top 10 sites au monde !!! Splendide. Malheureusement nous n'avons pas vu de WhaleShark ni de MantaRay..Peut etre la prochaine fois. Le dernier jour, nous avons explorée l'ile en scooter et sommes allées dans les mangroves qui abritent des crabes aux couleurs flash et de droles de poissons. A présent nous attendons notre train pour rejoindre l'ile de Ko Tao avant de remonter sur Bangkok.
